DESERT EXPERIENCE

  • We have travelled extensively in Australia's arid areas. Lucas and his team have driven through many deserts including off-track cross country driving to reach the start and finish of some of his desert walks. We have crossed the Simpson a number of times in vehicles including a summer trip and trips in the floods of 2010 where we had to winch across Eyre Creek. We have driven all the major routes including the Rig Road, WAA, French Line, QAA, Colson and K1.

  • We have also driven extensively off-track in the Simpson and has explored different sections of Sturts Stony Desert, the Strzlecki Desert, the Gibson Desert, parts of the Gunbarrel in summer, Lake Eyre is summer and the APY lands south of Uluru. We have supported film and TV productions in the desert areas including Mt Connor, the Western MacDonnell Ranges and the Simpson Desert.

  • Lucas is the first person to have walked across the Simpson Desert on foot, through the centre and unsupported. He pulled a cart weighing 160kg with all his own water, food and supplies for the 400km/17 day trip.
