Blue Mountains Climbers Rescue
This web site is set up to give members of the Blue Mountains Climbers Rescue easy to access information on the standard methods used by the group. This site will have more detail added over time. Contributions and suggestions are welcome.

As new items are added to this site or changes in methods or equipment are made by the group, they will appear in the
WHAT'S NEW box on this home page. Please read the IMPORTANT note at the bottom of this page.

The methods outlined have been developed by members of the group over a number of years of discussions, meetings and practice sessions. We feel that the methods are suitable for the group's operations in the Blue Mountains area. We plan to continually evaluate these methods and change them as required.

IMPORTANT - READ THIS
We are an informal grouping of volunteers, the group has no formal structure, is not an accredited rescue body and does not seek to be seen as one. Our role is simply to assist the Police (in the central Blue Mountains, NSW) or other accredited rescue bodies (such as the VRA in Lithgow and the SES in Oberon), who are the official rescue authority in charge of cliff and canyon rescues in their respective areas. We can only assist these accredited bodies if called out by them. The group has no legal right to initiate a rescue although individual members present when any sort of accident takes place at a cliff (or anywhere else) are entitled, and expected, to provide assistance in keeping with their knowledge or level of training in first aid etc. There is more information on this topic on the Background page.
