- Event logistics including start and finish of each day’s race leg.
- Permits for South Australian and Queensland National parks.
- A $200 donation to the Friends of the Simpson Desert.
- Event timing and record keeping.
- Safety services and support crew to monitor progress of teams during each day’s leg.
- Supply of a sat-phone for each team
- Use of GPS units X 2 for each team (to be returned after the event)
- Course map (one copy supplied to each team).
- Laminated emergency procedures card.
- Evacuation by 4WD of participants with minor injuries to the day’s camp.
- Supply of 10 litres of water per day for each participant.
- 4WD vehicles to deliver participant’s water supplies to the start and to each camp site.
- 4WD vehicles to move team crates and individual’s duffel bags each day to the next camp.
- Toilet and hygiene station at each camp.
- Dish washing water at each camp.
- Transport of participants from their Alice Springs hotel to the race start.
- Transport of each participant from the finish at Big Red to Birdsville.
NOT INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE
- Food
- Food preparation equipment
- Stove (you need to bring your own small gas stove and gas canisters)
- Drink supplements or powders
- Toilet paper and hand cleaning gel (shared by team)
- Team first aid kit including blister bandages.
- Team crate
- Individual duffel bag
- Team or individual water containers
- Batteries for your GPS you need a minimum of 14 X AA batteries for your GPS plus any extras you need for your head torch and/or camera etc.
- Distress beacon PLB or EPIRB (1 required for each team). These can be hired. Otherwise the organisers can help source a distress beacon for your team if required for a fee.
- Compass (1 required for each team).
- Accommodation at Alice Springs on Day 1 or at Birdsville on Day 8.
- Clothing, shoes or camping equipment as listed.
- If seating space in safety vehicles is limited you may need to pay for 4WD evacuation of a team or individual to Alice Springs or Birdsville due to (1) failing to make daily cut-off times, (2) disqualification for breaking event rules or (3) not being able to complete the event for any reason.
- Emergency evacuation by government emergency services or outside resources due to a medical emergency.
- There are no water or food stations on this course other than start and finish points and overnight camps.
- Travel from your home to Alice Springs at the start of the trip.
- Travel from Birdsville to your home at the end of the trip.
